Commercial Water Treatment
Water problems don’t stop at the front door of a business. Hydrology designs, installs and services commercial water treatment for offices, restaurants, salons, medical and dental practices, HOAs, condos and light industrial — sized to your equipment, your volume and your water.
Hard, chlorinated or contaminated water costs a business money: scaled-up water heaters, boilers and dishwashers; spotty glassware; short equipment life; poor-tasting coffee and ice; and unhappy tenants or patients. The right commercial system protects your equipment, cuts maintenance, and delivers the water quality your operation depends on.
Because every commercial site is different, we don’t sell a one-size box. We start with a site assessment and water test, then engineer a solution — high-capacity softening, catalytic carbon filtration, commercial reverse osmosis, iron/odor removal or disinfection — matched to your flow rate, footprint and budget. As a local, WQA-member company, we install cleanly and service what we sell.
Who we help
- Restaurants & cafes — spot-free glassware, better coffee/ice, longer-lasting dish machines and steamers
- Medical, dental & labs — high-purity water for instruments, autoclaves and procedures
- Salons & spas — soft water for better color, less product use and happier clients
- Offices, HOAs & condos — whole-building softening and filtration, tenant-friendly and low-maintenance
- Light industrial & ag — scale control and process water sized to your equipment
What hard water actually costs a business
In a house, scale is an annoyance. In a business it is a line item. Scale insulates heating elements, so a water heater or booster heater burns more energy to do the same work. It clogs the spray jets in a dish machine, which is why glassware comes out spotted and gets re-run. It shortens the life of ice machines, espresso groups, steamers, steam tables and combi ovens — the equipment that is most expensive to replace and worst to lose on a Friday night. And it turns into service calls that get billed to you as equipment failures when the cause was the water feeding them.
The reason it goes unnoticed is that nothing breaks on day one. It costs a little more every month for two years, and then something expensive fails early.
Commercial sizing is about flow rate, not square footage
This is the part that gets got wrong most often. A residential softener is sized on the number of people and the hardness. A commercial system is sized on peak flow in gallons per minute and daily volume, because the dish machine, the ice machine, the hand sinks and the mop sink can all run at once. Undersize it and you get a pressure drop at the worst moment and hard water slipping through at peak — which looks exactly like the system does not work.
The second thing is duty cycle. A single-tank system is offline while it regenerates. In a house that happens at 2am and nobody notices. A business that runs sixteen hours, or around the clock, usually needs twin alternating tanks, so one is always in service while the other regenerates and you never get hard water during business hours. If nobody has asked you what hours you run, they have not sized it.
Commercial water softener service & repair, including systems we did not install
A large part of our week is spent maintaining and repairing equipment other companies put in — including brands whose dealers have left this area. If your system was installed by someone who is no longer around, or the company that sold it will not come out for a service call, you are not out of options. Send us a photo of the valve head and we will tell you what it is and what it takes.
That covers softeners, carbon and sediment filtration, reverse osmosis, media changes, valve repairs and rebuilds, and ongoing service schedules. We will tell you when something is worth repairing and when it is not.
For a business that cannot be without soft water, we set up a standing maintenance schedule: salt deliveries, resin and carbon media checks, a valve and timer inspection, and a hardness test at the outlet so you know the system is actually doing its job. Most commercial service calls start with a photo of the valve head or a quick site visit, the same way our residential softener and filtration repair calls do.
How a commercial job actually runs
- Site survey and water test. We look at the equipment you are protecting, the plumbing, the space and the hours you run — then test the water. Free.
- A written spec and number. What it is, why that size, and what it costs. If a smaller system does the job we will say so.
- Install around your hours. We work out the shutdown window with you before we start, not on the day.
- A service schedule. Salt, media life and a standing check, so the system is maintained instead of remembered.
