Sand, Grit, or Cloudy Well Water? Sediment Pre-Filters in Bradenton
If your well throws sand, grit, or cloudy water, a sediment filter catches it before it reaches your home — protecting your fixtures, appliances, and every treatment system behind it. It is the simple first line of defense that makes everything else last longer.

What sediment does to your water and your equipment
Wells can pull in sand, silt, grit, and fine particles from the aquifer, especially after heavy rain or when a pump kicks on hard. You see it as cloudy water, grit in the bottom of a glass, or clogged faucet aerators. Beyond the nuisance, sediment wears out fixtures and valves and fouls the filters and softener behind it — so clearing it protects the more expensive equipment in your system.
How a sediment filter works
Depending on how much sediment your well produces, we install either a backwashing media filter that flushes itself clean, or a filter housing with a replaceable cartridge, matched to the right micron rating for your water. Too coarse and it misses the fine grit; too fine and it clogs constantly — sizing it to your actual water is the whole game, which is why we test first.
Why it goes first in the system
Sediment filtration is the front door of a well system. By catching the particles before anything else, it keeps your softener resin, iron/sulfur media, and RO membrane clean and working — extending the life of every component behind it. On a well with sediment plus other issues, it is the first stage in the train.
Technical specifications
Ideal for
- ✓ Cloudy or gritty well water, or sand in the bottom of a glass
- ✓ Clogged faucet aerators and screens
- ✓ Protecting a softener, iron filter, or RO system from particles
- ✓ Wells that stir up sediment after heavy rain or hard pump cycling
Why we build every system on Clack
On backwashing models we use the name-brand, certified Clack WS1 so you are never trapped — it is easy to service with no proprietary parts. (See our Fleck vs. Clack breakdown.)
As a custom-built system it carries the Clack valve and media manufacturer warranties plus our own labor warranty — on certified, name-brand parts, spelled out in writing at your quote.
Maintenance
Backwashing models flush themselves; cartridge models need the cartridge changed on a simple schedule based on your sediment load. We take care of it as part of looking after your system.

Why is there sand in my well water?
Wells draw from the aquifer, and sand or silt can come through, especially after heavy rain or when the pump cycles hard. A sediment filter catches it before it reaches your home.
Cartridge or backwashing filter?
It depends on how much sediment your well produces. Light loads do well with a cartridge housing; heavier loads are better on a self-cleaning backwashing filter. We match it to your water.
Does a sediment filter remove chemicals or hardness?
No — it removes particles only. Chemicals, chlorine, hardness, iron, and sulfur are handled by other stages. Sediment filtration protects those stages by keeping grit out of them.
How much maintenance is it?
Backwashing models clean themselves; cartridge models just need a filter change on schedule. Either way we keep it running for you.
What is the warranty?
Clack valve and media manufacturer warranties plus our own labor warranty, in writing. Our factory Puronics systems carry a lifetime manufacturer-defect warranty; we will tell you which applies.
