Bradenton water treatment
Water treatment in Bradenton,
from the team that installs it.
Hydrology Water Solutions tests, installs and services water softeners, whole-home filtration and reverse osmosis in Bradenton. We are based in Bradenton and have installed more than 110 systems here, including in Evergreen Estates and Aqua Lagoon. The same local tech who tests your water does the install. No subcontractors.
Bradenton has two water systems, and they cause different problems.
Inside city limits, the City of Bradenton’s 2025 report lists dissolved solids at 550 mg/L and sulfate at 288 mg/L, both above the EPA’s taste guidelines. That’s the bitter, salty edge in coffee and ice, and reverse osmosis at the sink is what brings it down. Outside the city, Manatee County water is the opposite problem: hard and chloraminated, which a softener with catalytic carbon handles.
Neither report is your faucet. We test at your tap — chlorine, hardness, pH and TDS — and size the system to what your house actually gets.

What that means for your home
It depends on which water you’re on. Here’s what we’d actually put in for each, and why.
A bitter or salty taste in coffee and ice, and white residue in the kettle. A softener won’t change that number; it isn’t built to.
Scale on shower glass, crusted aerators, and a water heater that wears out early. Catalytic carbon goes in front of the softener for the chloramine.
The city lists chlorine and chloramines; the county uses chloramine. It’s the pool smell in a hot shower, and catalytic carbon is the media made for it.
On a private well? If you don’t get a water bill, you’re on one. That’s a different problem, usually iron, sulfur, bacteria or pH, so we test first and build the sequence from what we find.
What you may be seeing
Most Bradenton calls start with one of these. You don’t have to diagnose it; that’s what the free test is for.
- Coffee and ice that taste off — bitter or salty, most often on city water, where dissolved solids run high.
- Spots that come back after you clean — glass shower doors, chrome and dishes, days after you wipe them.
- Scale in the water heater — crusty aerators and shower heads, and a tank that gives out early.
- A chlorine smell in hot water — the disinfectant, strongest when the water is hot.
- White residue in the kettle — minerals left behind when water boils off.
- Soap that won’t lather — you keep adding shampoo and detergent and it still feels flat.
We measure your water at your tap, not the average in a report.
We test hardness, chlorine or chloramine, pH and dissolved solids on the spot and show you the real numbers. Then we tell you what is worth fixing, and if the answer is nothing, we say so. Bring your questions. We enjoy curious clients.

Filter day on a Bradenton Micromax 7000
A scheduled filter change on a Micromax 7000 reverse osmosis system, with an alkaline filter added after the membrane. RO filters and the membrane wear out on a schedule; changing them on time is what keeps the water tasting the way it did on day one.
The same homeowners love their on-demand water heater. If you have one too: tankless heaters are sensitive to scale, and manufacturers call for regular descaling on hard water. A softener upstream is what makes that a rare job.

Who provides Bradenton’s water?
Homes inside city limits get City of Bradenton water from the city’s own plant, drawn from the Bill Evers Reservoir. Most homes outside the city get Manatee County water, a blend of Lake Manatee surface water and Floridan aquifer groundwater. Your water bill says which.
Is Bradenton water hard?
On Manatee County water, yes: 106–279 mg/L, up to about 16 grains per gallon. The City of Bradenton doesn’t publish a hardness number, so we measure it at your tap. City water’s bigger issue is dissolved solids, 550 mg/L in the 2025 report.
Do you service Bradenton?
Yes — we’ve installed 114+ systems in Bradenton, and we offer a free in-home water test with a same-day reply.
Why is my water softener not working in Bradenton?
Common causes are a salt bridge in the brine tank, a fouled resin bed, a stuck valve, or settings lost after a power outage — if spots and scale come back, that’s the sign. Our own techs diagnose and repair softeners and filtration systems throughout Bradenton and the Suncoast. Call or text 941-266-8991. Softener repair in Bradenton →
How long does a water softener installation take in Bradenton?
A typical install in Bradenton runs a few hours the same day, and our own tech does it — the person who tests your water is the one who sets up the system, no subcontractor handoff. For any job that needs a permit, we bring in the licensed plumber we work with.
Does Bradenton water have PFAS?
It depends which water you have. Manatee County tested for 29 PFAS quarterly in 2024, and all came back below the reporting level. The City of Bradenton’s 2025 report doesn’t list PFAS results. If PFAS is on your mind, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is what we’d put in, and we’ll go through the reports with you at the free test.
Why does catalytic carbon matter in Bradenton?
Manatee County disinfects with chloramine, and the City of Bradenton’s report lists chlorine and chloramines. Standard carbon barely removes chloramine; catalytic carbon does. We pair it with the softener so you lose the chemical taste and smell too.
Do you deliver water softener salt in Bradenton?
Yes — we offer salt delivery in Bradenton so you don’t have to buy, haul, and lift 40-lb bags yourself. It’s a convenient add-on for busy or larger households. Ask when you book your free in-home water test.
