What’s actually in your water
Manatee County / City of Bradenton. Two systems here: Manatee County water is Lake Manatee Reservoir blended with groundwater, disinfected with chloramine; City of Bradenton water comes from the Bill Evers Reservoir and ran 550 mg/L TDS and 288 mg/L sulfate in its 2025 report. 6–16 grains hard at the tap (county-reported range). No PFAS detected in the county’s UCMR5 round. For the tap, the 7000 is the everyday pick — lead, arsenic, nitrates, TDS and taste. If PFAS is the reason, see the 8500.

The one under

The 7000 is the RO we install more than any other, on city water and on wells. It’s certified under NSF/ANSI 58 for lead, arsenic, nitrates, TDS and cysts, and under 42 for chlorine taste — the things that actually change what comes out of the faucet — at a price that doesn’t scare anyone off. On a well, pair it with the whole-home build for iron and sulfur and the glass is covered.
Reverse osmosis as a technology reduces PFAS well. We just don’t put that claim on a model that hasn’t been certified for it. If a PFAS result is the reason you’re buying, that’s the 8500.

Is the 7000 enough on city water?
For most Bradenton and Sarasota homes, yes. It’s certified for lead, arsenic, TDS, nitrates and cysts, and for chlorine taste and odor — which is what people notice first. Is the 7000 enough on a well?
For the glass, yes — nitrates, metals, TDS and cysts are covered under NSF/ANSI 58. It won’t fix iron, sulfur or hardness for the house; that’s the well build. Test first.
7000 or 8500?
The 7000 is the everyday RO: taste, lead, arsenic, nitrates, TDS and cysts, all certified, at the better price. The 8500 adds certified PFOA/PFOS and VOC reduction (NSF/ANSI 53) and NSF/ANSI 401. RO reduces PFAS as a technology, but only the 8500 has been tested and listed for it — so if a PFAS result is the reason you’re buying, the 8500 is the pick. Otherwise most of our clients choose the 7000, and we say so.
How often do the cartridges change?
On a schedule we set with you based on your water and use — and Platinum Care members get it done for them.
Does reverse osmosis remove minerals?
It reduces dissolved minerals along with the contaminants — but tap water isn’t a meaningful source of nutrition; you get minerals from food. If you prefer a mineral taste, we can add a remineralization stage. The trade for taking lead, arsenic and nitrates out of your drinking water is well worth it.
Isn’t RO wasteful?
Older systems sent several gallons to drain per gallon made. Modern systems like this are far more efficient, and we spec the most efficient setup for your home. For certified drinking water, it’s a small amount of water for a big upgrade.
Why not just a fridge filter or a pitcher?
Those mostly improve chlorine taste. This system is independently certified to reduce lead, arsenic, nitrates, chromium, TDS and cysts — a different level of protection. Want PFAS on the certificate too? That’s the Micromax 8500.

Straight talk: we say “reduce or remove” on purpose. On most tests after an install we don’t see any of those residuals at all — but a certification measures reduction to a standard under test conditions, not a promise of zero on every drop, so we don’t over-promise. Your water, pressure and maintenance schedule all matter, and we set the filter-change schedule with you.
