What the free test covers
Hardness (grains per gallon), chlorine and chloramine, iron, and the aesthetics you actually notice — right there at your sink, with a real local tech, not a mail-in kit.
What we test for in Venice, and why
Homes inside Venice city limits get City of Venice water, which the city treats with reverse osmosis from brackish groundwater. South Venice, Nokomis and the unincorporated areas are mostly on Sarasota County Utilities, which uses chloramine. Some homes east of town are on private wells. Each utility publishes an annual report, and it is a starting point rather than an answer: it tells you what left the plant, not what arrives at your tap.
The disinfectant matters most. Free chlorine is handled by standard carbon. Chloramine needs catalytic carbon. On a well, iron, sulfur and hardness decide the system instead.
So we test at your kitchen sink: hardness, so a softener is sized to a real number; the disinfectant, because it decides which carbon and how much; iron, pH and dissolved solids; and, on a well, sulfur smell and iron staining.
Why testing beats guessing
Venice water varies by address: City of Venice RO water, Sarasota County chloramine water, or a private well. A test at your tap tells us which one you have and what is actually in it, so the system is sized to your water instead of a guess.
What happens next
If you need something, we recommend only what your water actually calls for. If you don’t, we’ll tell you that too — no pressure, ever.

What your neighbors say

“I cannot say enough amazing things about this company and system! We had three companies come out and Hydrology stood out on every level.”
“We’ve had our system now a month and absolutely love it. My wife is a hair beautician with over 30 years of experience and definitely can tell the difference with the water.”
“Wow, I can definitely feel a difference in my hair, skin, and when I wash my hands. I knew getting a water softener was a priority and I’m so glad I decided to go with Hydrology.”

Is the water test really free? +
Yes — a real local tech comes to your home, tests on the spot, and explains what your water needs. No cost, no obligation.
What does the test cover? +
Hardness, chlorine/chloramine, iron and the aesthetic issues you notice (taste, smell, spotting). For wells we look at sulfur, iron and more.
How long does it take? +
Usually about 30 minutes, and you get plain-English answers on the spot.
Do you test well water too? +
Yes — well testing is important because iron, sulfur, bacteria and pH shift over time. UF/IFAS recommends testing wells yearly.
Will you pressure me to buy? +
No. If your water is fine, we’ll say so. If it needs help, we recommend only what it actually calls for.
