Sarasota water softeners
Water softeners in Sarasota,
installed by our own techs.
We have installed more than 35 systems in Sarasota, from Siesta Key to the Sarasota County side of Lakewood Ranch. The same local tech who tests your water installs the softener. No subcontractors.
Salt-based vs salt-free
Salt-based ion-exchange truly softens — it removes the hardness minerals. Salt-free systems “condition” the water but don’t remove hardness. On Sarasota County’s roughly 7-grain water, salt-based is what actually stops the scale, and we’ll tell you straight which fits your home.
Sizing a softener for Sarasota water
Hardness here is softened at the plant, so we measure at your tap, and your supply is disinfected with free chlorine — no chloramine by City of Sarasota. Sizing is not a guess — it is grains times people times gallons. A unit sized to the wrong number regenerates far more often than it should, burns salt, and wears out years early.
Ask whoever quotes you what grain figure they sized to and where the number came from. If they cannot tell you, they estimated it.
Two specifications worth having in writing: the valve, because a named valve like a Clack has parts available anywhere and a no-name head does not; and the resin crosslink. Standard is 8%. 10% is denser and holds up longer against chlorine. We quote 8% as standard and 10% on request, and we say which is in your quote. Most quotes never mention it at all.
Locally: downtown and the older neighborhoods often mean a tight side-yard or a utility closet rather than a garage, and we check the main size on the pre-war homes before quoting.
Figures are from City of Sarasota’s own published water quality report. Where a utility does not publish something, we say so rather than estimate it. The water test is free and carries no obligation.

Sized to your water, not a box
Sarasota County runs about 7 grains per gallon; we test yours and size the resin and valve to your hardness and household — never a one-size box. A Clack metered valve regenerates on your real water use instead of a timer that wastes salt and water.

How hard is Sarasota water? +
Sarasota County publishes about 7 grains per gallon — solidly “hard.” The City of Sarasota softens at the plant, but it still varies by home, so we test yours free.
Salt-free or salt-based — which should I get? +
Salt-based truly softens; salt-free conditions but doesn’t remove hardness. Which fits depends on your water and goals, and we’ll walk you through it after testing.
Does a softener remove chlorine or chloramine? +
A softener handles hardness. To remove chlorine/chloramine taste you pair it with carbon — catalytic carbon on county (chloramine) water. We build both in.
How long does an install take? +
Most installs are done in a few hours by your own local tech, with clean, careful plumbing.
How much does a softener cost in Sarasota? +
It depends on your water and home, which is why we test first. We’re transparent about pricing and offer financing with low monthly options.
Hard water spotting your glasses and scaling your appliances? A softener fixes it at the source. Here’s how to choose the right one for Sarasota water — and we’ll size it free.
