Wimauma water softeners
Water softeners in Wimauma,
installed by our own techs.
We have installed more than 50 systems in Wimauma, including in Creek Preserve, Sereno and Southshore Bay. The same local tech who tests your water installs the softener. No subcontractors.
Why Wimauma homes need a water softener
Wimauma runs on hard water — new communities on city water, rural homes on wells. That hardness spots your glasses, scales your water heater, films your skin and quietly shortens the life of every water-using appliance. A properly sized softener reduces it at the source, for the whole house.
What is actually in Wimauma’s water
Not our numbers — your utility’s own. Every figure below is reported with the legal limit beside it, and where Hillsborough County, South-Central system does not publish something, we say so instead of filling in a guess.
| What | Published figure | Against the limit |
|---|---|---|
| Total hardness | Not published | the county does not report it. The closest published figure is Pinellas County’s, on the same Tampa Bay Water regional supply: 189–244 mg/L, about 11–14 grains per gallon — hard to very hard. It isn’t the county’s own number, which is why we test at your tap before we size anything. |
| Chloramine residual | 3.8 ppm | federal max 4.0 ppm |
| TTHM | 17.2 ppb | MCL 80 ppb — lowest on our map |
| HAA5 | 12.1 ppb | MCL 60 ppb — lowest on our map |
| E. coli, August 2025 | 2 positives of 2,500+ samples | an MCL violation, corrected. You should hear it from us. |

What that means for a system in Wimauma
Wimauma spans two situations. On the Hillsborough South-Central system you get chloramine at 3.8 ppm and the lowest byproducts on our map — genuinely good water on that axis, and we will say so. Hardness is not published by the county, so it gets measured.
Outside the served areas, Wimauma is well country, and that is a different build entirely. On a well, treatment order beats equipment choice: iron and sulfur come out ahead of hardness, and a softener installed in front of an iron problem can foul its resin within a season.
Installing in Wimauma
The new subdivisions south of the 674 are usually a clean garage install. The older and more rural properties often mean a well house, an existing pressure tank, and occasionally equipment a previous owner had plumbed in the wrong order. We test first either way.
We install and service throughout Wimauma, Southshore Bay, Ayersworth and the agricultural land east of 301. The water test is free and there is no obligation attached to it — it is how we size a system.

How our install works
Every install starts with a free in-home water test, so your system is sized to your actual water — never a one-size-fits-all box. Your own local Hydrology tech tests, recommends and installs it, start to finish, with clean, careful plumbing. If a job needs a permit, we bring in the licensed plumber we work with.
We’re already in Wimauma
Wimauma is half new subdivision and half well country, and the equipment is not the same for both. Puronics for a certified finished system with a manufacturer warranty behind it; custom Clack builds where a well needs a treatment train. We do not put certification numbers on custom builds, because they do not have them.

How hard is Wimauma water?
Hillsborough County does not publish a hardness figure for the South-Central system, so anyone who quotes you one is estimating. We measure it at your tap and size from that.
Does Wimauma water have chloramine in it?
Yes. The South-Central system reports chloramine at 3.8 ppm, range 0.03 to 6.8, against a federal maximum of 4.0. Carbon goes ahead of the softener — partly for the chloramine itself, partly because chlorine oxidises softener resin and shortens its life.
What changes if my Wimauma property is on a well?
Nearly everything. There is no utility report, so nothing is known until we test. Iron and sulfur come out ahead of hardness, never after. And catalytic carbon — the right answer on chloraminated town water — is usually not what a well needs, because nobody is adding chloramine to it. We would rather build you the correct thing than the town answer.
Salt-free or salt-based — which should I get?
Salt-based systems truly soften; salt-free systems condition. We walk you through which fits your water after testing.
How long does a softener install take?
Most installs are done in a few hours by your own local tech, with clean plumbing.
