Apollo Beach water softeners
Water softeners in Apollo Beach,
installed by our own techs.
We have installed more than 20 systems in Apollo Beach. The same local tech who tests your water installs the softener. No subcontractors.
Why Apollo Beach homes need a water softener
Apollo Beach runs on hard water, with softener loops in the newer communities and wells in outlying areas. That hardness spots your glasses, scales your water heater, films your skin and quietly shortens the life of every water-using appliance. A properly sized softener reduces it at the source, for the whole house.
What is actually in Apollo Beach’s water
Not our numbers — your utility’s own. Every figure below is reported with the legal limit beside it, and where Hillsborough County, South-Central system does not publish something, we say so instead of filling in a guess.
| What | Published figure | Against the limit |
|---|---|---|
| Total hardness | Not published | the county does not report it. The closest published figure is Pinellas County’s, on the same Tampa Bay Water regional supply: 189–244 mg/L, about 11–14 grains per gallon — hard to very hard. It isn’t the county’s own number, which is why we test at your tap before we size anything. |
| Chloramine residual | 3.8 ppm | federal max 4.0 ppm |
| TTHM | 17.2 ppb | MCL 80 ppb — lowest on our map |
| HAA5 | 12.1 ppb | MCL 60 ppb — lowest on our map |
| E. coli, August 2025 | 2 positives of 2,500+ samples | an MCL violation, corrected. You should hear it from us. |

What that means for a system in Apollo Beach
Apollo Beach is on Hillsborough’s South-Central system. Worth knowing where that water comes from: Tampa Bay Water blends Floridan aquifer groundwater, river water, and desalinated seawater from the plant right here in Apollo Beach. Reverse osmosis is in the treatment train before distribution, which is exactly why a published hardness number needs checking against whether it describes source or finished water. The county does not publish one at all, so we test.
Chloramine runs at 3.8 ppm. Byproducts are the lowest on our map and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Installing in Apollo Beach
Canal and waterfront homes are the local install consideration: elevation, where the equipment can sit, and salt air on anything exposed. In MiraBay and the newer communities it is usually a standard garage install with a builder loop already roughed in.
We install and service throughout Apollo Beach, MiraBay, Symphony Isles and the Golf and Sea Club. The water test is free and there is no obligation attached to it — it is how we size a system.

How our install works
Every install starts with a free in-home water test, so your system is sized to your actual water — never a one-size-fits-all box. Your own local Hydrology tech tests, recommends and installs it, start to finish, with clean, careful plumbing. If a job needs a permit, we bring in the licensed plumber we work with.
We’re already in Apollo Beach
Waterfront and canal homes bring their own install questions — elevation, where equipment can sit, and salt air on anything exposed. Puronics systems are certified as complete units and carry a manufacturer warranty; our own value-built option covers people who want the right equipment without the certification premium.

How hard is Apollo Beach water?
Hillsborough County does not publish a hardness figure for the South-Central system, so anyone who quotes you one is estimating. We measure it at your tap and size from that.
Does Apollo Beach water have chloramine in it?
Yes. The South-Central system reports chloramine at 3.8 ppm, range 0.03 to 6.8, against a federal maximum of 4.0. Carbon goes ahead of the softener — partly for the chloramine itself, partly because chlorine oxidises softener resin and shortens its life.
Does the desalination plant change what I need?
It changes how you read the numbers. Tampa Bay Water blends groundwater, river water and desalinated seawater from the plant here in Apollo Beach, so reverse osmosis sits in the treatment train before distribution. That means any published hardness figure needs checking against whether it describes source or finished water — and the county does not publish one at all. So we test at your tap rather than reason from the plant.
Salt-free or salt-based — which should I get?
Salt-based systems truly soften; salt-free systems condition. We walk you through which fits your water after testing.
How long does a softener install take?
Most installs are done in a few hours by your own local tech, with clean plumbing.
